What's New for BitSURFR QuicConfig?

v2.1.4 (1/15/98)

Fixed bug which left QuicConfig in 230 kbps state after performing Serial Port Speed Test.

Added function which lets you test DTR capability of your modem cable. Useful if you are experiencing disconnect problems with your BitSURFR Pro.

Added 230 kbps capability to VT102 Terminal window (for Macs which support 230 kbps serial port speeds). Useful to test AIMUX connections between BitSURFR Pros (e.g. as a pre-test for ARA connectivity).

v2.1.3 (7/24/97)

Fixed bug which hung QuicConfig on Duos and Powerbooks which share modem/printer port when BitSURFR Pro was not connected.

v2.1.2

Not for public release.

v2.1.1 (4/18/97)

QuicConfig now lets you easily test the serial port speed capability of your Macintosh and BitSURFR Pro. One of the most widely asked questions we are asked by customers is " "How can I test the maximum serial port speed of my Macintosh?" It is an important question since you want to get as much throughput with your BitSURFR Pro as possible.

The new button "Test Serial Port Speed" will definitively and simply tell you if your Macintosh, cable, and BitSURFR Pro supports high speed communications (115200 and 230400 bps).

Once you determine that your Macintosh supports 230400 bps, we recommend that you use Open Transport with Apple's PPP and the Quicomm BitSURFR 128K-230 CCL script for your Internet connections. This will ensure that you are getting maximum throughput out of your system.

v2.1.0 (2/3/97)

QuicConfig now supports the International version of the BitSURFR Pro. When launched, QuicConfig reads the model information. The proper switch settings screen is then displayed.

Added a Help button for easy access to the QuicConfig manual.

Upon quitting QuicConfig, the time and date of the North American model will automatically be set.

v2.0.1(12/17/96)

Slightly modified PPP Scripts for 230 kpbs serial support (no added speed, but better reliability for some users).

Modified menu handling so special characters ( "(!^-") are not displayed in Port menu (only an issue for people using third party serial cards).

Updating QuicConfig to the newest version can now be handled without the Quicomm Updater. Just click the "Register" button in the Registration Dialog box and open your previously registered version. Your registration data is automatically copied to the new version.

v2.0.0(11/27/96)

QuicConfig now supports a new tabbed interface, making it easier to move between windows.

Added Link Status and Diagnostic capabilities for debugging ISDN line problems.

Added Data over Voice (DOV) menu item for configuring protocols (Speed Popup Menu). This may be useful to users who are served by phone companies which have per minute charges for local data calls. (DOV calls are setup as voice calls, then switch to data mode once the call is answered by called equipment. Called equipment must also have DOV capabilities).

v1.0.7a (11/14/96)

No changes to the QuicConfig application itself.

But we've included a new Modem Script which lets you connect with Open Transport and Apple's PPP at 230 kbps for Macintosh models which support this high-speed connection.

v1.0.7 (11/2/96)

Registration algorithm has been slightly modified to provide more flexibility to our Registered users. Thank You Registered Users!

v1.0.6

* Port speed can be preset by reconfiguring resource Str# 501. Valid entries are: 1200, 2400, 9600, 19200, 38400, and 57600. (default is 38400). Before changing the port speed string to a value different than 38400 you should note the following statement from the Motorola regarding firmware upgrading:

"Softloading can be done at any DTE speed supported by the BSPro. However, no increase in softload throughput is achieved with DTE speeds past 38400bps."

Added CCL scripts and documentation for supporting Apple's OT beta PPP. There are bugs in the versions of the Motorola BitSURFR Modem scripts which accompany the Apple PPP beta software and which will not let a user properly setup Multilink PPP connections. These have been fixed and are supplied as a set of new Modem scripts (Quicomm BitSURFR 128K, Quicomm BitSURFR 112K, Quicomm BitSURFR 64K, and Quicomm BitSURFR 56K).

v1.0.5
* Silent scanning of serial ports (no alert if port is already in use).

* Several cosmetic changes which provide quicker screen updating.

v1.0.4
* Automatic scanning of serial ports to locate your BitSURFR Pro (which may also be disabled at startup).

* Switch settings window now only has two places to enter Directory Numbers and SPIDs. Pairing of Data and Voice DNs and SPIDs is now performed with a popup menu. This simplifies data entry and minimizes the chance for errors.

*Several minor cosmetic bugs have been fixed.

*VT102 Terminal navigation keys (arrow keys) now work with all Macs. User can also designate preferred navigation keys.
